You must have inspired me Oppo. Changed my valve cover gasket, among other things (valve adjustment, coolant stuff, freshly painted cover) on the BMW. Internals dont look too bad for sitting outside a barn for 20 years. Getting her all nice and pretty and ready to put up for sale. Now I just need to get off my ass and give the engine a good detail.

My only advice is don’t do rubber.

Yes it’s cool that they are “re-usable” gaskets.

No they don’t seal for shit.

This from the guy who tried to use them twice on his Montego.

I now have cork ones. See? I had to pay twice anyhow.

Yeah at 10 bucks a year at the very most (I like to adjust my valves at the start of every summer) its not even worth the reusable ones. A years worth of heat cycles and they’re about as reusable as toilet paper.

I never got them to seal well.

I ended up swapping valve covers because I think the originals were warped too, but it just wasn’t worth the fight.
